So I had a weird dream last night… 

Actually, I had three of them, but before I go into them let me explain something. You ALWAYS dream during sleep, what determines whether or not you remember your dreams is if you wake up during a period of sleep known as REM (Rapid eye movement) sleep. Anyway, I’ve found that you’re more likely to remember your dreams if you wake up, go back to sleep then wake up again (which happened to me a couple of times this morning.) So when I wake up from a dream at 3:45am, I tend to use mnemonics to remember that dream before I go back to sleep so that when I wake up again, I can easily remember it. But I digress…

The First Dream

I can’t remember anything more than fragments, where I’m going home from somewhere that I think is the beach and my school friends and teachers were there. However, see the third dream.

The Second Dream

I’m in the city with my brother and dad, walking across the road and towards a large set of concrete steps leading into a park. I’m discussing with my dad how we would react to earning a large amount of money when we reach the top of the park which is actually a zoo enclosure. However, it’s not secure in the slightest and there is a Komodo Dragon* in an area surrounded by low walls with gaps in it. I worry it might escape but there is a park ranger nearby, though he’s holding a rake so I’m a bit doubtful of his animal control abilities. The Komodo Dragon escapes and initially, it’s being harmless and slowly wanders past me and everyone else, down the steps and into the city. For some reason I decide to chase after it (instead of sensibly running away from the dangerous reptile now loosed into the city) and the park ranger and I follow it into the ground floor of a large business building. Policemen are summoned immediately but it seems the park ranger doesn’t want them to harm the Komodo Dragon and is warding them off with his rake. One of the policemen fires a shot and the up-‘till-now calm Komodo Dragon goes berserks and starts clawing and biting people (including the park ranger) until the policemen gun it down.

The Third Dream

I’m at my school outside my Japanese classroom with my friends. The teacher arrives and after everyone else goes in, I take out a cigarette and start smoking it~. For some reason I don’t think to extinguish it until I’m in the classroom where I drop it on the floor and squash after everyone starts noticing the smell. When I sit down, Nicky says to me “Remember the shark.”+

*Komodo Dragons are the largest reptile in the world, very fast, large claws, venomous teeth…not to be messed with.

~I hate smoking, no idea why I was smoking in this dream.

+This bit is interesting; after I had the Komodo Dragon dream I went to sleep saying to myself “Remember the dragon.” so that I would remember the dream when I woke up. Seeing as I know the first dream was set near or at a beach, it seems like the third dream was trying to tell me the contents of my first dream by having one of my friends telling me to “Remember the shark.” Still can’t remember anything about a shark though…
